THIBAUT MAROT
Thibaut Marot is a French director and videographer based in Briançon, known in particular for his work in climbing, mountaineering, and Himalayan expeditions. With over a decade of experience, he has forged a reputation for capturing not only landscapes and light but also the grit, ambition, and poetic moments of those who push human limits outdoors.
He has collaborated with some of France’s top climbers and alpinists. He directed and produced Seb Bouin's films, such as the Hidden Gems series, ACL (9b), and Wolf Kingdom (9b+). He has also documented Benjamin Védrines, notably on high‑altitude alpine expeditions such as Jannu East and the ascent of K2, and in dramatic moments of climbing reportage.
Thibaut’s work combines technical mastery (handling challenging lighting and remote locations) with an eye for storytelling: he frames climbers in their environment so that the route, rock, ice, or mountain is a character in the image too. His photos aren’t just records, they convey tension, exposure, scale, and the emotional arc of the climb.
